When I sat down to write this post about what my favorite campaign was that involved the greatness of human interaction, I knew for a fact that I wanted to choose a campaign whose overall goal was to help people. One that immediately came to mind but wasn't necessarily an advertising campaign was J.J. Watt's initiative to raise money for the people who were affected by Hurricane Harvey.
The hurricane, that happened just this part summer, devastated millions of people, resulting in hundreds of billions of dollars in damages. People were left homeless, without any possessions, without basic necessities, and unable to quickly get back on their feet.
J.J. Watt, who is a football player for the Texans, went on social media with a campaign to raise some money for those affected by the hurricane. With a goal of $200,000, he never expected to receive such large donations from celebrities that brought him to the end donation accumulation of more than $37 million in less than a month.
The reason why I chose to speak about this initiative was because it truly demonstrates the power of human interaction. Watt's donation site was only spread by word of mouth or social media, but people cared enough about the victims to donate small amounts of money from all over the country in order to benefit those in need.
